“I believe that clothes, our second skin, are fundamental to our identity:  we dress according to how we feel emotionally and physically, how we want to be seen by others, to connect with others who are important to us, and to how we see ourselves as individuals in a social world.

My work, both for private commission and exhibition, builds and explores this relationship.  For my private clients, I strive to create their second skin – my exhibitions, conversely, seek to expose the identity that lives through the cloth.”

Sonia Heap designs for a number of private clients, has exhibited at Moonah Arts Centre, MONA, Carnegie Gallery and Contemporary Art Tasmania, and has work in both MONA and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery collections.
